GDX to close Wabash facility, 800 workers to lose jobs

Bad news for workers at GDS International Holdings in Wabash:

Michigan-based GDX International Holdings Ltd. says it is being acquired by MAPS Holdings, Inc. and plans to close its Wabash facility. The Wabash Plain Dealer is reporting that up to 800 workers are expected to lose their jobs beginning early next month. Employees were notified on Friday. The newspaper says that GDX Automotive opened in Wabash in 1936.

GDX has told workers at the plant that the first jobs will be cut on November 9, with the plant closure expected on or around November 30.

GDX is a global supplier and manufacturer of sealing systems and glass encapsulation products for the automotive sector.
