Bemis Company, Inc. may be laying off some of its North American workforce. The Terre Haute Tribune-Star reports that the company employs more than 1,000 people in Terre Haute. The company says it had lower-than-expected sales in the third quarter of this year and may need to adjust employment levels.
However, officials say it's too soon to know how many jobs will be cut. They say lower demand for consumer products wrapped in packaging made by Bemis is behind the disappointing sales figures.
In May, Bemis said it was investing $21 million in new equipment and adding about 29 new jobs at its Terre Haute facility.

I believe Bemis wont be around in five years unless they can figure out how to manage. They are now a seasonal employer and only have good business eight months out of the year. Their employees are less productive due to most of their cost saving methods come out of the workers pockets. Bemis is in need of a change in leadership and get away from the corporate greed management style before it becomes the next enrron
