Parker Hannifin Corp. is eliminating 100 jobs at its New Haven plant because of the slow residential housing market and lower customer demand.
The 100 affected employees, who are not represented by a union, have been notified about the cuts and will be let go Friday, said Brad Lichtenberger, operations manager for the climate systems division of Parker Hannifin. The job cuts are permanent, Lichtenberger said.
Although the company is headquartered in Cleveland, the climate systems division is based in New Haven. After the cuts Friday, Lichtenberger said the New Haven operations will employ 820, including 720 hourly employees.
